Corporation des fêtes historiques de Québec was set up in fall 1996 with a view to holding the New France Festival the following year.
With a view to offering local residents and the thousands of visitors that descend on Québec City every summer a festive event centered around the history of the country’s first settlers, the municipal authorities undertook to create a popular festival with a historical flavor. They proceeded with a call for tenders, which was quickly followed by the creation of a not-for-profit organization and an executive committee that today boasts 10 members and governs the SAQ New France Festival.
Corporation des fêtes historiques de Québec is also an entire team of permanent staff in charge of every aspect of the festival and tasked with running and developing the event.
