Here are answers to some of the most common questions about the SAQ New France Festival.
1. When does the SAQ New France festival take place? Events will be held August 1 to 5, 2012.
2. When are the sites open? The opening hours will be announced with the programmation launching.
3. Will the activities be cancelled if it rains? Activities take place rain or shine, but some may be cancelled in cases of very severe weather.
4. Where can I get an official SAQ New France Festival program? The official program is available at SAQ outlets in the Québec City area and at the sites during the event. All programming information is also available on our website.
5. I would like to take part in the SAQ New France Festival by dressing up. Where can I get a costume? Several stores in the Québec City area rent costumes. The official SAQ New France Festival costume designer is Création Faces à Faces. They design and rent all sorts of costumes. 6. Do festivalgoers have to wear costumes during the festival? No. Festival-goers can choose to do so if they wish. Over 30,000 festivalgoers do dress up to take part in the festival, but the only thing you need to access the sites is your Effigy! Dress up section
7. Where can I buy an SAQ New France Festival Medallion? The official pass to the SAQ New France Festival! In 2011, purchase the Medallion for only $10 during the festival for access to all the venues and activities. Complete the contest entry form that comes with the Medallion for a chance to win numerous prizes!
$8 at SAQ From 13st July until 31st July 2011, the Medallion will be available at the special price of $8 at SAQ outlets throughout the greater Québec City area.* Free for children 12 and under. *Consult the list of sales outlets.
8. What accommodations are available near the sites? Several hotels are in the very heart of the festivities and in the Québec City region near the main arteries that lead to festival sites. For more information, visit the Accommodation and Associated Hotels sections of our website.
9. How can I avoid traffic during the festival? There are several ways of getting to the sites. The festival offers a free shuttle service throughout the event from the Gare maritime Champlain parking lot and from the Palais de Justice parking lot to the terminus near the Québec City–Lévis ferry. Departures are every 10 minutes. You can also reach the sites by bus, by ferry from Lévis, or by bicycle. For more information, visit the Getting There section on our website.
10. Where will the entertainers be during the event? Over 1,000 artistic events will be held over the festival’s five days, so entertainers can generally be found in the streets wherever festivalgoers are gathered. In addition to the main performances, ongoing activities will also be held at the following locations: - Rue St-Pierre; - Place Royale; - Batterie Royale; - Place de Paris; - Traverse Québec-Lévis; - Parc de l’Unesco; - Quartier Petit-Champlain.
